Why do I take pictures? Images are visual memories of times and places. Yet they go beyond the mere capture of an emotion or experience. They are living, breathing entities that speak to the viewer and ask, ‘this is what happened, what do you think?’ They ask, ‘how do you feel about this?’ They are a way for the photographer to communicate with the viewer through time and space. A powerful image is a metaphysical mirror, which asks us to look at our own thoughts, feelings, and beliefs. Are we uncomfortable? Are we affirmed? Truly, a picture is worth a thousand words.
